BACOLOD MAP “Bringing a piece of home”

A commissioned work for a client who was born and raised in Bacolod but based in Manila now and wanted a piece of HOME with her in Manila. “ I use paper pulp to create intricate linear drawings in relief that utilizes space as its canvas. Pulp breathes in the flow of air and embraces light... My work explores the concept of a map as a reflection of reality, memory and destiny by reconstructing the interlaced matrix of Metro Manila using recycled mass-media newspaper as pulp medium. The street landscape in a metropolis is a living creation. By capturing the woven matrix of a constantly evolving city, my attempt is to capture existence made manifest and to question the destiny of urban civilization”
